Kathirasan K

Kathirasan K (Kathir) is a philosopher and scholar-practitioner, deeply rooted in both modern secular mindfulness and the ancient Indic traditions of Meditation, Consciousness, and Philosophy. As the Founder of the Centre for Mindfulness and the Mindfulness Academy in Singapore, he has contributed to the evolution and practice of mindfulness in Asia.

Kathir is the developer of the Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement (MBWE) program, a unique integration of MBSR, MBCT, and Positive Psychology principles. His innovative approach has expanded the scope of secular mindfulness, applying it beyond clinical settings and emphasising cultural adaptability and ethical foundations—core values that he instills in the mindfulness teachers he has trained since 2017.

In addition to his work in mindfulness, Kathir has undergone classical training in the Sanskrit commentarial tradition of Non-dual Consciousness and Mindfulness, offering insightful commentary on several of these works. His active involvement with the Centre for Interfaith Understanding highlights his interest in fostering mutual respect, empathy, and understanding across diverse communities.

With 28 years of experience across education, leadership, community work, personal development, and coaching, Kathir is also the author of five mindfulness books. His academic credentials—including a PhD in Yoga Philosophy and Meditation, an MBA, and certification as a Yoga Instructor—reflect his deep commitment to holistic wellbeing and his mission to promote mindfulness as a way of life. He is proficient in English, Tamil and Sanskrit.
