IMTA Executive Director
Tiffany Jackson, the newly appointed Executive Director of IMTA, has been a longtime personal practitioner of mindfulness and meditation. When the opportunity to lead IMTA presented itself, her appreciation of mindfulness teachers, her association leadership background, and her profound interest in diverse cultures proved to be a perfect match for the association.
IMTA has a legacy of impactful leaders including Dawa Tarchin Phillips, Diana Winston, and Phillip Moffitt. Tiffany is thrilled about this opportunity to work with them and continue the association's outstanding work. Her passion for mindfulness and her skill set will help lead the association in a direction that will be fulfilling to the members and community it serves.
Tiffany’s journey in mindfulness and meditation began with a pivotal moment during her time as a busy executive at an international quality certification association (ASQ-Global). At that time, she had a relentless international travel schedule, often visiting multiple countries per trip. She thoroughly enjoyed connecting with the association’s members in locations such as Brazil, India, UAE, China, and Mexico. Although the frequency of the travel, as well as crossing multi-international time zones, was challenging, her layover between Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a trip to Shanghai, China, was a defining moment for her. During this time, Tiffany stumbled upon an article about mindfulness and meditation in a magazine, when she knew instantly that meditation could improve her outlook and her experiences during her busy travel schedule.
By consciously practicing mindfulness during her travel, she seized opportunities to immerse herself in diverse cultures and landscapes. From exploring temples in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Japan and seeking solace in spiritual sanctuaries like the ISKON temple in New Delhi and Catholic churches in Mexico and Peru, to embracing the discourse and rigor of the modern scientific literature and growing evidence base of secular mindfulness around the world. Tiffany's journey was both an inward exploration and a global adventure. "I found that mindfulness not only helped me remain centered, but it also opened my eyes to the beauty and wisdom of the world around me”, Tiffany shared.
Beyond daily meditation, Tiffany developed a deep connection to nature and animals. Mindful walks in natural settings became a cherished ritual, allowing her to find stillness amidst the bustling world. This connection to nature further enriched her mindful journey.
Tiffany's leadership philosophy centers around inclusivity and open communication. She aims to continue to build on the great work of the founders and community of teachers, to foster an environment where voices are heard, ideas are nurtured, and growth is collective. Tiffany's emphasis on inclusivity stems from her diverse experiences around the world – a perspective that she believes enriches both her leadership style and IMTA's mission.
As Tiffany embarks on her journey as IMTA's Executive Director, she brings with her not only a wealth of experience but also an open heart, a mindful spirit, and a commitment to cultivating a harmonious, inclusive, and transformative community.
