Nikhilia Sharma, CMT-P, MBWE

Please tell us about your secular mindfulness meditation background and the population you serve.

I am trained as an MBWE (Mindfulness Based Well-being Enhancement) facilitator at Centre for Mindfulness Singapore which is an 8-week course to support mindful well-being and happiness for everyone. Being an Indian and having experienced multiple cultures, the population I serve is majorly Indian residents. At the Centre we also continue to work to develop new programs to cater to specific needs globally.

Tell us what secular mindfulness looks like in your part of the world.

In India, secular mindfulness often can be looked as being at crossroads with the inbuilt spiritual preferences or biases. This is part of our awareness campaign to continue to bring to light how mindfulness could be deeply supportive of spirituality and can help to enhance it. In fact our program, the MBWE, is designed keeping in mind the Asian cultural and spiritual base and has great deeper learnings in general for humanity.

Any additional information about you and your practice you would like us to review for inclusion in this article.

I think there is still a of misinformation about Mindfulness and how it could be so powerful as a supportive framework for everything in life. We as a community may want to continue to talk about this more.
